How to Use Your Horse Glitter Stencil Kit

Ready to add a little extra sparkle to your horse? Our stencil kits are an easy, fun way to create glitter designs for horse shows, photo shoots, costume classes, special events, or just because.

Whether you’re using one of our reusable stencils or a sticky stencil, follow the directions below for the best results.

How to Use a Reusable Stencil

1. Position your stencil.
   Using painter’s tape, masking tape, duct tape, or a steady extra set of hands, place the stencil where you’d like the design on your horse. We love a little sparkle on a booty or shoulder, but feel free to get creative!
2. Apply the adhesive.
   Using the foam paint brush, apply a medium layer of adhesive to one section of the stencil.
3. Add the glitter.
   Dip a dabber into the glitter, then gently dab it over the adhesive. Don’t worry if a little glue gets on the dabber—it actually helps the glitter stick!
4. Fill in the design.
   Continue applying adhesive and glitter section by section until the entire stencil is filled in.
5. Remove the stencil.
   Carefully peel the stencil away in the direction of the horse’s hair and admire your finished design!

How to Use a Sticky Stencil

1. Apply the stencil.
   Remove the white backing and place the stencil sticky-side down wherever you’d like the design. Once it is positioned, remove the clear protective cover.
2. Apply the adhesive.
   Using the foam paint brush, apply a medium layer of adhesive to one section of the stencil.
3. Add the glitter.
   Dip a dabber into the glitter and dab it onto the adhesive. Again, a little adhesive on the dabber is completely fine and can help the glitter stick.
4. Complete your design.
   Repeat the process until the entire stencil is filled with glitter.
5. Peel and reveal!
   Carefully peel the stencil away in the direction of the hair to reveal your finished glitter design.

How to Remove the Glitter Design

When you’re ready to remove your horse’s glitter design, use warm water and soap or a stiff curry comb.

If you’re using a curry comb, begin around the edges of the design. As the adhesive starts to loosen and lift, you can gently peel away the larger pieces.

For stubborn areas, apply a small amount of shine spray or another oil-based grooming product to help dissolve the adhesive.

You may notice a few horse hairs stuck to the adhesive as it comes off. This is completely normal! These are simply loose hairs underneath the design that would have naturally shed.

Cleaning Your Reusable Stencil Kit

Reusable stencils, foam paint brushes, and dabbers can all be hand washed with warm water and mild dish soap.

Allow everything to dry completely before storing it so your kit is clean and ready for your horse’s next glitter moment.
